AVRDC – The World Vegetable Center is a nonprofit, autonomous international agricultural research center with headquarters in Taiwan and regional offices around the globe. AVRDC conducts research and development programs that contribute to improved incomes and diets in the developing world through increased production and consumption of nutritious and health-promoting vegetables. Initially focused on Asia, the Center is now the leading vegetable research and development organization for the developing world. Its activities are conducted in partnership with the private sector, national agricultural research systems, CGIAR and non-CGIAR international agricultural research centers, advanced research institutes, universities and non-governmental organizations. Its research and development is focused on five major themes covering germplasm conservation, genetic enhancement, seed and safe vegetable production, post-harvest and marketing management and human nutrition.
